Sandra L. Sands (Cox)
March 29, 1945 - June 18, 2017
Sandra L. Sands, 72, of Roscoe, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017. She was born on March 29, 1945 in Rockford to Paul A. Cox, Sr. and Florence (Somers) Cox. She married John Hansen on September 17, 1994 in Roscoe.
Sandra was involved in numerous quilting charities and donated most of her quilts to the American Family Children's Hospital, the V.A. Hospital and the Indian Reservation in South Dakota. She also volunteered giving haircuts to the veterans. Sandra retired from the State of Illinois as an Environmental Protection Specialist.
Survivors include her son, Michael Sands; daughter, Tammy Halcomb; granchildren, Patrick, Angel, Kiersten, Dillon and Justin; numerous step-children and step-grandchildren; brothers, Paul A. (Charlotte) Cox, Jr. and Raymond A. (Judy) Cox; sisters, Chris Marks and Pam (Richard) Govert. She is predeceased by her parents.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main St., Roscoe, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Roscoe-Harlem Fire Department
