Kaye Leslie Wensel Clendenny

Kaye Leslie Wensel Clendenny quietly passed away after a long illness at 11:45 AM, October 6, 2015.

Born May 10, 1945 to Everett & Gladys Radway Wensel at the Beloit Memorial Hospital Beloit, WI. Lived with her Mother and Step Father Howard “Cobbie” Rogers in Roscoe from 8 years old until going away to attend Nursing school.

Graduated 1963 from Hononegah High School and the Rockford School of Practical Nursing in 1964.

She worked at the Highland and St. Joseph Hospitals in Belvidere. She was at the Highland Hospital providing care to patients after the 1966 tornado. She also worked at several Joliet nursing homes, Aetna Insurance Company and as a nurse for East High School in Joliet, IL.

Kaye married Jerry Clendenny in June of 1969 at the Roscoe Congregational Church that she attended and taught Sunday school there in her youth.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband, daughters Kara Clendenny, Debra (Dennis) Sines, Overland Park, KS. Cheryl Clendenny and Grandson Bryan Clendenny, Marshal TX., Michelle West, Lafayette, TN.

Jerry and Kaye moved to and lived in Channahon for 15 years and then to Minooka, IL for 15years.

Kaye was a Village Trustee in Minooka for 8 years. She thoroughly enjoyed the challenges and all the people she met. In her work she helped to bring large businesses, and housing developers to provide homes and jobs to the area. After retirement they moved back to the Roscoe area settling in Machesney Park in 2004. She was passionate about gardening, flowers, bird watching, sewing, quilting and always up for a good political debate.

Preceded by her parents, brother Duane Rogers of Beloit and very best friend, from third grade, Jane (Denny) Edlund of Roscoe/Rockford and very special nephew Jay Rogers of Roscoe.

Survived by husband Jerry, daughters, brother Kenneth Rogers, cousins John Radway, Pat and Larry Bankard, sister in-law Marilyn Rogers and very special niece Jeannie Wedel, Grand nieces and nephews and their children

There will be no services. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements.
